Who We Are

As you read this, a supremely gifted artist designs a cloth in France. At the same moment, shepherds in New Zealand tend their flocks, caring for them and protecting them from their natural adversaries. All the while, artisans in Biella, Italy use wool provided by the aforementioned animals to weave the designers’ dreams into reality.

It is the breath of these others before us that gives life to As You Are. The existence of exceptional cloths drives us to create delightful garments just for you.

After years spent building a clothing brand and serving hundreds of elated clients, the pandemic gave us some breathing room and time to consider what we wanted for our future.

We decided we would like to create a different type of custom clothing brand in San Francisco. Using the same luxury fabrics, production processes and keen attention to detail, we wanted to create a custom clothing company for you.

This means that we are committed to creating beautiful formalwear for clients’ special occasions, but it also means we will create luxury casual wear for our clients as well. We are serious about our craft, but not too serious about ourselves. We don’t aim to change or elevate you through our clothing, but we do hope to elevate the feeling you have when you peruse your closet and remove a carefully considered garment for wear.

We receive inspiration for our garments in our every day observations and studies. A color palette can be based on a sunset in Joshua Tree. A sport coat may be modeled after the classic Neapolitan style. The structured shoulders of a tux might come from the tailoring 007 has worn over the years. Some of our casual looks may be akin to something we saw in a Drake’s look book. We use only the finest cloths from the likes of Dormeuil, Loro Piana, Carlo Barbera, Huddersfield, Solbiati, Reda and Vitale Barberis.
